My very first LJ Meet

ok, just as i logged on to post my previous post on lj at around quarter to 4, noticed a post by aivalli on the b'lore community about an LJ meet starting at 4 today itself!! since it was past 4 already, i thought i wouldn't be able to make it, but decided to go for it anyway. rushed to the specified spot by auto - for the 1st time all by myself in b'lore. was there by 4:30 and as i nervously looked around for familiar faces, of which i found none, i started wondering if anyone would recognize me at all. just then dhempe walked up to me and asked me if i was shradha!:D *phew* i thought to myself!:) the Barista we went to was packed and we had to wait awhile to find ourselves seats. aivalli joined us in a while but it seemed a while before the others started coming. there was amoghavarsha, followed by kaustubhhere, who joined us for a few mins. with his sister before dashing off for some some other place. then came kalyan, and then came the big gang with rashmiprasad, jace, killapop and irq2. mannu, sweta_mogra and balaji joined us soon after. we chatted over coffee, cookies and donuts for a while before moving our base to corner house for ice creams (all except kaustubh, kalyan and shweta).

oh, i forgot...on the way, i insisted we have gol gappas (called 'pani puris' in this part of india!) and was surprised (and perhaps a little disappointed) to have them serve us the gol gappas only with the aloo stuffing. the spicy water and chutney we had to add ourselves! :( so anyway, no one seemed particularly interested about eating gol gappas, so we quickly restarted our walk towards supposedly b'lore's best ice-cream joint. i obviously couldn't damn kicked about the idea! hehe the place was far less fashionable than i thought it to be but anyway, it was the ice-creams we had come for, and oh yeah, the place sure did live up to its reputation!

on the whole, everyone seemed to have fun and we are in fact we are planning to have something next weekend as well. 7th is my sister's b'day, so i won't be able to make it but if there is something we do on 6th, i'll definitely be game!;)

it was initially quite strange to meet up with people u only remotely know - that through, ironically, something as personal as a journal! except for a few people, most dont even use real photos as user pics. plus, those who do, dont look like their user pics in real life! jace and i being perfect examples!:P was extremely surprised to hear from people that i dont look like my user pic at all [particularly so coz i have been receiving loads of compliments on my user pic!:((] they seemed to have expected a very chubby sort of person, definitely much older, in an indian kinda dress - perhaps even draped in a saree!! *gosh* couldn't hide my shock at that one! quite scary huh, the kinda images people carry about u without even having met in person! i'm glad i cd meet so many fellow lj-ers though. would love to have this sort of meet again!!:D
